Getting the job done matters, but how we get it done matters too. I can promise you that in representing your goals in North Kildonan I will:
-
Believe in What's Possible
Your voice at City Hall shouldn’t just be focused on solving existing problems. Your City Councilor should also be aspiring for what’s possible. I believe we deserve, and can have, nice things here in Winnipeg.
-
Be Led by Community
I am committed to working for you and involving you in meaningful ways in the decisions and priorities that are set at City Hall. We’re not always all going to agree, but I’m never afraid to have a difficult conversation, and I know that the best decisions are made when they have input from a wide variety of people.
-
Build Partnerships
The biggest challenges Winnipeg is facing - like climate change, global instability, affordability, and homelessness - aren’t solely the responsibility of the city. The solutions to these big problems can only be achieved through partnership with the provincial and federal governments, and by learning from the mistakes and victories of other municipalities. I’m committed to working with all levels of government to tackle big problems together.
-
Be Evidence Informed
I have been a health sciences librarian for over 20 years, helping health professionals use evidence to inform their practice and to create health policy. I will take this same approach at city hall to make decisions based on evidence.
-
Make a Plan, Work the Plan
It sounds overly simple, but it’s always been my approach. Winnipeg already has well-researched detailed plans on how to advance our city in a financial and environmentally sustainable way - these plans now need to be seen through to completion.
